Pencil sketch study of castles by James Bourne circa 1800.

James Bourne (1773-1854) was an English landscape artist. He was born in Sutton Coldfield, but worked in London, from Grosvenor and then Cavendish Square.     

He exhibited at the Royal Manchester Institute, and at the Royal Academy from 1800-1809. Several of his watercolours are in the Victoria and Albert Museum. 

Bourne was part of the English School and an occasional associate of JM Turner, and Joseph Farington.
