This large graphite drawing of Thomas Monro's home, in Hertfordshire, is where he lived from 1807 until his death in 1833.     

Alexander Monro (1802–1844), was son of Dr Thomas Monro.

Dr Monro ran the informal 'Monro' academy, where the young J.M.W. Turner and Thomas Girtin found patronage, along with other members including John Linnell, John Sell Cotman, Peter de Wint, William Henry Hunt, Joshua Cristall and John Varley.
