Thomas Barker (1769-1847) was a self-taught artist of landscapes. He was most inspired most by Thomas Gainsborough's drawings in nature.
He was particularly fond of woodland scenes that featured gypsies and/or farm labourers.
Also included with this purchase is information about The Stephen Neale Art Collection, from which the watercolour is taken, a certificate of authenticity, and a biograpy of Thomas Barker.
